Reading through various forums I notice how many people have a real problem understanding nose weight. The thing that most seem to miss is that the max nose weight for their vehicle is not set to give safe towing but is the actual safe weight the fixing points on the vehicle can stand without being under excessive stress. Go over the max and you are liable to find your towbar still attached to your van several miles behind you ouch!

[glow=red,2,300]Not just the max weight of your car or vans nose weight. Your tow bar has a max weight as well....and you must go by the lowest. My cars nose weight is 150kg but the max weight of the Witter removable tow bar thats fitted is only 80 kg. So, check the max of your tow bar as well peoplez. [/glow]

Good point Lee. If any one is not sure and their vehicle was registerd after August 1st 98 then it will have a plate fixed giving the information.
